Martin trained at Birmingham School of Speech and Drama (1989 - 1992) and has since worked as a Director, Actor and Tutor. Since 1995 Martin has been artistic director of Rocket Theatre, producing over 25 productions, including: 'I Licked A Slag's Deodorant' (City Life Theatre Production of the year 2003), 'Cornered' (Manchester Evening News Theatre Award for Best New Play 2000), 'A Skull in Connemara' and 'Dealer's Choice' (both nominated for Manchester Evening News Theatre Awards). He has also directed showcases for industry professionals in the North West; most recently, 'Canterbury Tales'. Between Rocket commitments he directed 'Terrorism', 'Twelve Angry Men' and 'Yerma' (Salford University), 'The Snow Queen' (Bury Met Arts Centre), 'Edmund', 'Not About Nightingales' (Arden School of Theatre) and 'The Man Who Would Be Bing' (Flying Pigs), amongst others. Martin has recently worked for Feelgood Theatre Productions as an actor in 'Dracula' and 'The Three Musketeers'. He has run workshops at the Northern Actors Centre, North West Playwrights and various youth theatres and adult drama groups. He has also been advising actors and directing their audition pieces in private one-to-one sessions for a number of years, with over 100 clients to date.
